Michael Shannon Talks About General Zod In MAN OF STEEL

A few weeks ago, actor Michael Shannon who plays General Zod in Zack Snyder's MAN OF STEEL, was spotted alongside co-star Antje Traue, who plays sidekick Faora, at Plano, Illinois. The actor himself has confirmed that his General Zod character will be portrayed through motion-capture suits. Here's what he had to say below.

Yeah, it's one of the most humiliating garments that exists in the known universe, yes. It's very tight. It has a variety of different colors and shapes on it and it makes you feel like you're the court jester. And it's funny because when I met with Zack (Snyder) we were talking about it before it started and he mentioned that there was going to be a lot of CGI, or whatever. I said, 'Just don't make me wear one of those silly suits.

Oh, yeah, don't worry, I know exactly what you're talking about.

I was like, 'It's going to be really hard for me to be intimidating if I have to wear one of those silly suits.' He said, 'I totally understand.

Then I showed up and he's like, 'Dude, I swear to God, it's going to be so bad ass when we done. Trust me, it's going to be wicked.' And, you know, people understand and you get used to it. The first day, you feel like you're getting rushed by a fraternity... and then it wears off the next day. Because I'm not the only one wearing one - there are other people wearing them, too.

On the other hand, Shannon also revealed he won't be imitating Terence Stamp's iconic General Zod role from 1978's SUPERMAN and 1980's SUPERMAN II.

I'm not going to impersonate Terence Stamp. I'm not going to have a British accent or anything. I'm still getting my foot into the pool, you know? I just started working on it and all I can say is that it's very well written. There's a lot of really great opportunities to re-invent it for myself. To me, [being a General is] such an interesting kind of iconoclastic character. I can't imagine even being a Sergeant, let alone a General. He's in charge of the entire military of Krypton. That's going to take every little shred of imagination that I have. It's a good challenge.

Well, good for him. I was actually hoping Michael Shannon can make General Zod his own character, and I can't wait to look forward for his performance when MAN OF STEEL hit theaters on June 14, 2013.

Chicago Building Doubles As Daily Planet For MAN OF STEEL!

Looks like Chicago is pretty in right now, at least for the set location. And I'm talking about BATMAN BEGINS, THE DARK KNIGHT and of course, the currently-in production of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. As for Zack Snyder's upcoming MAN OF STEEL, it has been revealed that the famous Daily Planet building happens to be set at Chicago as well! What's more, it's a same building used as Wayne Enterprises in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. And that building is called Chicago Board of Trade Building, where the crew are reportedly setting up at Monroe and Lower Wacker in preparation for the filming schedule. Check it out below.

Possible Plot Details For MAN OF STEEL Revealed!

According to Superman Homepage, an open casting call for Zack Snyder's highly-anticipated Superman reboot MAN OF STEEL, has revealed some possible plot details! Here's the casting sheet below for the Vancouver Island area:

"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman," not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves."

Apparently Warner Bros. , DC Entertainment and Legendary Pictures are there for the open casting calls in Nanaimo and Uduelet on Vancouver Island to seek local people working as background artists in scenes to be filmed in early October.

Warner Bros. Pushes MAN OF STEEL To June 14, 2013

According to Box Office Mojo, Warner Bros.'s original December 2012 release for the upcoming Superman reboot, MAN OF STEEL, is now pushed forward to June 14, 2013 as the official release date. Production is scheduled to begin shortly in Vancouver.

MAN OF STEEL is directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan. The movie stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner and Michael Shannon.
